Frank D. Torres

Frank D. Torres, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, in New Albany, Indiana, at the age of 96. Born on April 2, 1928, in Alice, Texas, Frank lived a life filled with love, dedication, and spirit.

Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army, having been inducted on July 3, 1952. He rose to the rank of PFC (T) 14, and after serving his time, he was honorably discharged, earning the respect and admiration of those around him as a proud Veteran.

Throughout his life, Frank had a passion for being outdoors, which complemented his interest in gardening. He loved spending quality time with family, often engaging in various projects around the house. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to cultivate lasting memories with his loved ones.

He is survived by his son, Dan (Tricia) Torres; his son, Dave Torres; his daughter, Hermelinda Ybarra; his son, Fausto (Carmen) Ybarra; his son, Eddie Torres; and his grandchildren, Frank (Brea), Greg (Brianne), Maria (Logan), Marleigh (Michael), Carmyn (Jared), and Branson. Frank shared a strong bond with his siblings: his sister, Maria DeLuna; his brother, Tom (Sylvia) Torres; his sisters, Oralia Zimmerman and Juanita Bouvier; his brother-in-law, Cork Tippie; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to those who cherished him, Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maria C. Torres; his son, Frank (Becky) Torres, II; his father, Florencio Torres; his mother, Petra Torres; his brother, Charlie (Tina) Torres; his sisters, Josephine Tippie and Rita Torres; and his brother-in-law, Nolan Zimmerman.

Frank D. Torres will be remembered for his gentle spirit and unwavering commitment to his family and country. A visitation will be held on January 11, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM, both taking place at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN.

He will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
