Frank E Spayd

Frank E Spayd, a beloved member of his community and devoted family man, passed away on September 21, 2024 in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on December 12, 1936, in Glasgow, Kentucky, Frank dedicated much of his life to the service of, working as a Driver for the Transit Authority of River City (TARC) for an impressive 36 years.

Frank was married to Lois D. Cherry Spayd, with whom he shared 46 years of love and companionship. His commitment to family was evident in his role as a devoted husband, father, and Papaw. He is survived by his son, Shawn E. Spayd, and grandson, Shawn E. Spayd, Jr. Additionally, he leaves behind his siblings, Carolyn Spayd, Richard Spayd, Charles (Ruth) Spayd, and Norma Slinker. A dear friend, Bonnie Caskey, also mourns his loss.

Frank's engaging personality shone brightly in all he did. He was a proud member of Ormsby Heights Baptist Church, where he participated in the choir, finding joy in music and community. When he wasn’t working or singing, Frank enjoyed tending to his yard and working around the house, each activity reflecting his character and dedication.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lois D. Spayd; his parents, Lewis W. Spayd and Mary C. Spayd; and his sister, Dorothy Dolan.

Visitation services to honor Frank's life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243. The visitation will first take place on October 3, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a second visitation on October 4, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, leading into a funeral service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville. 

Frank E Spayd will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his contributions to his community, and the warm spirit he shared with those around him. His legacy will continue to live on through his family and friends who hold dear the cherished memories of the time spent with him.
