Early Wednesday Morning on October 27th, 2021, God so graciously picked up one of his children, Florida Evelyn Groves, 91 of Louisville KY. She was born July 20, 1930, in Maud County, (Washington) Kentucky to the parents of James and Estella Girton. Florida accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Walker Chapel A.M.E Zion Church, Maud County (Washington) KY. She attended Old Central High School, Louisville, KY. In 1950, she married Louis William Stone, in this union they had five children where they resided in Taylorsville, Kentucky. After the death of her husband, she moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where she married Roy J. Groves. Florida worked for the Jefferson County school system with the mentally handicap for 10 years and then she went on to work for Nazareth Nursing Home where she retired. She enjoyed listening to gospel and old school music, traveling, dancing and socializing with family and friends. Florida's favorite hobby was throwing darts, where she was a member of the Square Club Dart Team. She was an awesome mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to us all. Florida's fun personality made her a joy to be around. She was a good listener and always greeted you with a pleasant smile. At the end of it all she would say "Oh Well". No matter how feeble she became throughout, Florida would always get down on her knees and pray to our Heavenly Father. She was an angel and a child of God; that's what made her so special.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Estella Girton; husband, Louis Stone; daughter, Sandra Stone Allen; sister, Lenora Lewis Malone; three brothers, James (Buddy), John Howard and Marion; step-mother, Ida Mae Girton; mother-in-law, Susie Stone Simms and son-in-law, Allen Ingram.
