Florence Vivian "Flo" Turner passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. She was born to Albert and Levert Brathwaite on February 13th, 1946 in New York City. At her time of passing, she was 77 years old and resided in Louisville Kentucky. Flo, as referred to by loved ones was 1 of 8 children born to Levert. So family was something she took very very seriously. Notable celebrities also born that year were Danny Glover, Cher and Al Green. While Flo wasn't a well known celebrity, she was a force like no other. Flo was the kind of woman that didn't tolerate foolishness. In other words, she didn't take any mess from anyone. She didn't play about her family. She loved fiercely. She was a protector. On the surface she was the queen of the jungle and everyone was her prey. But if you were blessed enough to make it into the inner circle of her heart, there was no mistaking her love for you.
Florence loved flowers and plants. White lilies were her favorite. White lilies represent purity, innocence and rebirth. This flower perfectly symbolizes the deceased returning to a state of innocence. She was preceded in death by her husband David Turner, mother Levert Brathwaite, her father Albert Brathwaite, her favorite aunt Vivian Garland who she was named after and her grandson Paul Harrison.
Flo is survived by her daughters Shaunnette Harrison (Malissa) and Tawana Rivers (Jana); her grandchildren, Cobain Rivers, Zuri Harrison, Cyr Harrison, Ebone'Franklin and John Robert Franklin Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Jayden Greenwell, Sydney Burchette, Zyir Artis, Casiyah Cade and Cash Rivers. She is also survived by her siblings, Margaret Garland, Muslima McNeil (John), Deborah Montoya (David) and Mitchell Brathwaite (Channell). Flo has a host of nephews and nieces, including her niece Lesley Burrell, who helped take care of her during the last and most difficult month of her life.
