Fannie King Mckellery

May 3, 1929 — October 21, 2023

Fannie King McKellery, 94, of Crestwood, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

She was born on May 3, 1929 in Toney, Alabama to the late John and Celie (Hereford) White. Fannie loved to sing and play the piano and organ. She was baptized at an early age and loved singing in the church. Not only was she part of the choir, she was noted for her gospel singing and was often requested as a soloist. In addition, she would offer her wisdom and knowledge to others. Fannie was very proud of her family and was quick to share her opinion. Whether they wanted it or not. :)

She was a good country cook who cooked from her heart with no measurements! Her specialties include her tea cakes, desserts, biscuits, and her Thanksgiving cornbread stuffing. Fannie was a fashionista, and loved her suits, hats, White Diamond perfume and fancy shoes! She also enjoyed talking on the phone to her cousins, who were scattered all over the United States, and her sister in Alabama.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Louis King, Sr. and Walter McKellery; sons, Darnell King and Albert Louis King, Jr.; daughter, Ethel Thomas; grandson, Jason King; parents, John and Celia White; siblings, Gladys Battle, Cleatus White, John Lee White, Jr., Almathene White, Marvielene Clemons, and Melvin White.

Fannie is survived by her daughters, Linda Hammon and Barbara Unseld (Lou); sister; Joyce Hardin (Leroy); grandchildren, Kenny Hammon (Lynn), Michael Hammon, Stephanie Engleman (Grayson, Sr.), Tonya King (Bethany), Monica Unseld, Justin Hammon (Krista); step-granddaughter, Shenese Thomas; step-grandson, Harry Thomas, Jr.; 17 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Diane King (widow of Darnell); sister-in-law, Linda White; Stacy Faller, who was like a granddaughter to her; and a host of nieces and nephews who dearly loved her.

Cremation was chosen and services will be private.

The family requests that contributions in Fannie's memory be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

"We would like to give special thanks to the staff at The Willows, as well as, Kara from Hospice, for their love and care for her. In addition, we have heartfelt gratitude for all those who made time to visit with her. You are a blessing." - The Family
