Everett "EJ" Polley, age 59 of Louisville, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, August 21, 2022. He was born on October 29, 1962 to Everett J. Polley II & Nancy Polley. After graduating from Southern High School, EJ served his country in the United States Marine Corps. From there he went on to earn an associates degree in drafting/design. He has designed many architectural projects, not only in Kentucky but throughout the United States.
His lifelong passion was playing soccer, where he met his wife, Diane. He also loved coaching, beginning his coaching career around age 15 with kids from the neighborhood. Following in the footsteps of his father, EJ dedicated much of his time to the Okolona Soccer Club, where he coached for many years. He also played for many years in the Greater Louisville Soccer League, where his passion for the game was always on display. He made an impact on numerous lives in the Louisville soccer community.
He lived life to the fullest…going on camping trips to see the states, playing and coaching soccer, hiking, biking and kayaking, fishing, and constantly working on projects around the house and land. He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett J. Polley II and Nancy Polley.
EJ is survived by his wife, Diane Polley; children, Samantha and Shane Polley; siblings, Larry Polley (Gina) and Cheryl Vick (Jamie); nieces and nephews, Jessica Link (Josh), Logan Polley, and Brittany Vick; as well as many other relatives and friends.
A gathering to celebrate EJ's life will be on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243 from 4pm to 7pm. Military honors will be at 6:30pm.
