Evelyn Mae Meyer

December 28, 1933 — September 12, 2023

Evelyn Mae Meyer, age 89 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. She was born December 28, 1933, in Linville-Edom, VA . She graduated from Broadway High School in Broadway, VA in 1950 and proudly attended her class reunion as often as she could with her daughter Anita. She was a Kindergarten Sunday School teacher, President of Missions Circle, and the President of the Goodtimers at West Broadway Baptist Church in Louisville, KY where she frequently would provide transportation for others in her church community. She was the President of the Homemakers at Bethany United Methodist Church as well. Evelyn worked for Chesapeake & Potomac Phone Co., Maryland Cup Co., & Sears in her lifetime but she was primarily a housewife.

Evelyn will be remembered mostly for her love of her children & family. She would always put her children's needs above her own. You could always find her at as many events as she could possibly attend. Everyone who knew Evelyn knew she had a great love for playing cards. She was always at the kitchen table playing Shanghai rummy, pinochle, and King's Corners with anyone who'd be willing to sit down and play. "She also enjoyed playing softball where she was on a team with her daughter Joy at Bethany Methodist Church." Her family would like for you to know that Evelyn was a very strong, positive, and humorous woman who was always laughing. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Vera (Myer) Derrow, her siblings Carroll Derrow, Lorraine Gooden, and Warren Derrow. As well as, her former husband's Richard Congdon, David Hall, and Robert Meyer, her son Timothy Congdon and grandson Darrek Chandler.

She is survived by her brother, Lawrence (Rachel) Derrow; her children, Donald Congdon, Anita (George) Doster, Rick (Kathy) Hall, Joy (Michael) Bourke, Donna (Steve) Miller, and Melody (Charlie Spiegel) Marshall; as well as her grandchildren, Ellebee (Justin) Moore, James (Meeshe) Congdon, Matthew Hlavsa, Heather (Caleb) Hall, Jeremiah (Nina Critz) Congdon, Andy (Anna) Hall, Marcie Birk, Amie (Willie) Grayson, Kymberly (Timothy) Lindell, Hannah Higgins, Kory Miller, Krystol (Alex) Weidner, Kaleb (Anna-Delle) Miller, Kailee Miller, Riley Marshall, Tara (Brad) Pauley, Trent (Audrey Moeglin) Marshall, and Reace Marshall. Evelyn also had 28 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; and is survived by a host of relatives and friends.
