Evelyn Sue Hitner, affectionately known as Sue, was born on February 28, 1946, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky. She passed away on January 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
She was the devoted wife of Jerry Hitner for nearly 43 years, a bond that has been an inspiration to many. She is also survived by her daughters, Tammy Isenberg (Paula) and Lisa (Shawn) Simpson. Sue's heart swelled with pride as she embraced her role as a grandmother to eight grandchildren: Matthew (Megan) Isenberg, Brady (Emilee) Isenberg, Bailey (Phillip) Hochadel, Kelsey (Michael) Jenkins, Konnor (Ashley) Isenberg, Karson Isenberg, Zayne Simpson, and Emberlynn Simpson. Additionally, she reveled in her status as a great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren, each one a testament to her legacy of love.
Throughout her life, Sue was known to have a passion for reading, but her greatest joy was her profound love for her family, a love that was evident in all she did.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Alex Taylor and Sibbie Eads Taylor; her son, Patrick Isenberg; and her four sisters and two brothers.
Her spirit will forever resonate within the hearts of her family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Visitation will continue on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of her Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Cremation will follow in accordance with Sue's wishes and she will be laid to rest at Sellersburg Cemetery at a later date.
