Ethel Mae (Eckman) Jones

Ethel Mae (Eckman) Jones, 84, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, went to be with Jesus on June 12, 2024. She had struggled with Alzheimer’s for several years and is now finally at peace.

Ethel was from Valier, Pennsylvania, but had lived in Kentuckiana over 60 years. We have lost a wonderful and nurturing mother and ‘grandma’, who always gave more than she had to give. She was always there for each one of us, whether it be critical times or joyous times. We’ve lost our friend, who laughed and joked with us, who cried with us, who gave advice or just quietly stood by while we tried to figure it out for ourselves and stumbled, helping us get back up to start over. More than not, in what downtime her family would allow, you could find her curled up with a book. She loved to read.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Jones; her mother (mum), Beulah and father (pap), Earl; sisters, Gerry and Liz; brothers Sam, Chuck, and Ron. Ethel will be greatly missed by her surviving family, son, Charles and his wife, Tammy; daughter, Michelanne and her husband, Greg; granddaughter, Kimberly; Grandson, Cody and wife Margarita; five great-grandchildren, Cheyanne, Brooklynn, Xavier, Laura, and Max; and nephew, Reed, and his family, of Dayton, Pennsylvania. We smile at the joyous reunion that must have taken place when she had daddy and Gerry again. What a sight that would have been! She will be missed with profound sorrow as we all go forward and try to heal, a missing piece in our lives forever.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with her funeral service taking place at 1:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest privately at Sacramento United Methodist Church Cemetery in Sacramento, Kentucky.
