Mr. Ervin Daniels Jr. (a.k.a. "Red") of Louisville, Kentucky, was born on August 14, 1944, in Americus, Georgia to the late Ervin and Eunice (Williams) Daniels. He departed his earthly life to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. His parents and siblings, Doris Latricia (Daniels) Hodge, and Anthony Daniels preceded him in death.
Notable aspects of his early life include the following experiences: he arrived in Louisville, KY as a young boy in the early '50s and lived with his eldest sister, Laverne, and later moved in with his Uncle Sammy and Aunt Rose, who raised him. As a young teenager, he would visit with his sister Laverne when she moved to Pittsburgh, PA. In Pittsburgh, he would nurture relationships with his close family members and his teenage friends. He attended Central High School, achieving academic and athletic excellence as a stand-out track runner, baseball player, and boxer. Ervin also took high school tailoring training courses.
After graduating from Central High School in 1964, he acquired employment as a tailor, serving the Louisville community. Later, he spent his working years at BFGoodrich, a tire manufacturing company. Afterward, he worked as a licensed notary republic, Jefferson County Court Bailiff, and a carpenter all while being a tailor for several laundry cleaners' establishments.
Ervin accepted Christ later in his adult life, uniting with New Horizon Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. His faith continued to grow when he became a West Chestnut Baptist Church member, establishing relationships with church members. Ervin was passionate about men's clothing, sports, politics, and most of all; he had a tremendous sense of humor that made everyone laugh and smile at every moment.
"Red" was considered a sharp dresser and was passionate about wearing clothes that would give the dapper appearance. His favorite college basketball team was the Louisville Cardinals, of course. Go Cards! Ervin loved watching his favorite baseball team, the Pittsburgh Pirates; he quickly studied politics and always read and watched the latest stories. Ervin was loved and adored by many of his family and friends. His storytelling was hilarious, and he would joke and laugh with everyone; it was never a dull moment around "Red." Most of all, he was cherished and loved by many who felt for his big persona, the heart of a lion attitude, and passionate love for everyone in his life.
He leaves behind to cherish these and other memories his six children; Natisha Daniels-Thompson (Richard), Darryl Daniels, Darron Hall (Maylyn), Ervin Daniels III (Nadia), Heather Daniels-Young (Kelvin), Walter Daniels (Claudia), bonus daughters Leta Martin, Shenay Grier, and five siblings; Laverne (Ali) Murtaza of Pittsburgh, PA, Carolyn Jeffrey (Raymond) of Louisville, KY, Shirley Daniels-Holley, Samuel Daniels, Harry Ross, of Long Island, NY, his beautiful grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 pm on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243 with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
