Ernest "Ernie" E. "Gene" Myers, 77, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022. Ernie "Gene" he was a life member of VFW 1181 and was a life member of the Military Order of the Cootie. He was Baptized and raised in the First Christian Church in Sac City, Iowa. Ernie "Gene" joined the United States Army in December of 1963, and retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service. He then settled in Radcliff and Louisville with his wife and worked construction doing concrete work. Later Ernie "Gene" worked with the Army Armor Corps of Engineers during Operation Desert Storm & Desert Shield. After which he became a Correctional Officer with the Kentucky State Reformatory, and worked with Cattleman's Association at the Kentucky State Fair. Ernie "Gene" after retirement became a model tractor collector. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends called "Geriatric Club" that hangs out at the Hide-Out. Ernie "Gene" loved playing pinochle, cribbage, and reading.
He was born on November 15, 1945 in Sac City, Iowa to Ernest and Gail (Weltzheimer) Myers. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Sister and Brother-In Law Loleta & Louie Shulte, Sisters Sandra Gaulke, and Judy Myers, Nieces Lori Bettin, Mona Tassin and Uncle Larry Seelinger.
Ernie "Gene" is survived by his loving Wife of 36 1/2 years, Melinda "Tweetums" Myers, Daughter, Susi "Sugarbear" Myers, Sisters, Lois (Dale) Bunting, and Linda (Chuck) Bettin, Brother-In-Law, Kevin Gaulke, Aunt Elzora Seelinger. Ernie "Gene" also leaves behind to cherish his memory 16 Nieces & Nephews and a host of Friends and Extended Family.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel. Celebration of Life and Graveside Services will be held in Iowa in June.
Ernest's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
