Eric D. Jones, Sr.

Eric D. Jones, Sr., 69, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of sergeant. During his time in the armed forces, Eric received several awards and recognitions that included: good conduct medal, Army service ribbon, overseas service ribbon, rifle expert badge and air assault badge.

Eric possessed a mechanical mind and enjoyed tinkering with electronics and cars. He was also a huge fan of anything SciFi and liked building model planes and cars.

He was born on November 23, 1955 in Louisville, Kentucky. Eric was preceded in death by his parents, David Jones, Alma and Alphonso Smiley, Sr.; daughter, Shandrae "Roshell" Ingram, and siblings, Bishop Dana Kaiser and William "Nathan" DeJarnette.

Eric is survived by his children, Antonio Griffey, Contessa Clark (Larry), Eric Jones, Jr. (Tracy), Erica Jurado (Xavier), Michael Jones; siblings, Diane Monts (Jesse), Kevin Jones, Carla Sutton; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his funeral service taking place at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky.
