Pete Vassiliades, age 61, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 15, 2024 with his loving wife Peggy by his side. Pete was born in Staten Island, New York on April 1, 1963 to Anthony E. Vassiliades formerly of Chios, Greece and Constance (Vallas) Vassiliades of Louisville, Kentucky. Pete grew up and became an avid Cubs fan in Deerfield, Illinois. The youngest of two children, he honored and cherished his loving family. After the sudden passing of his father in 1995, Pete stepped in and cared for his mother and sister Lia. Pete and Lia were especially close growing up and their friendship and bond deepened over the years.

In 1977, the family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio; while Pete was sad to leave his lifelong friends, they maintained their family-like friendships. Pete attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where he became a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. His fondest college memories revolve around this group of “brothers” who remain brothers to this day. Upon acceptance to John Marshall Law School, Pete returned to Chicago to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a lawyer. He began his law career as an attorney for Sears; eventually starting his own practice specializing in contract law. Although Pete loved living in Chicago, a high school friendship with Peggy Guion, which turned into love, drew him to Charlotte, North Carolina where he became a respected attorney first at Consilio and later at Epiq Global.

Pete enjoyed many hobbies and interests. He was a gifted athlete and a natural leader. This was evidenced on his many school and community sports teams. He carried that stewardship and his academic excellence into his career life. Pete was a member of MENSA for decades. A reliable source of wisdom and counsel, he did not hesitate to help anyone in need.  He was preceded in death by his father Anthony.

Pete is survived by his wife, Peggy; his mother, Constance; his sister, Lia; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. His incredible humor, wisdom, and compassion will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial donations can be made to the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation or to St. Michael Orthodox Church, Louisville, KY.
