Pieper, Emmelie (Sissy) Davis
Passed away April 6th 2014
She was born on January 19, 1941 and was a native of Jefferson County, Louisville, Kentucky. Those that preceded her in death: her husband Eugene Paul (Joe) Pieper on March 14, 1974; her parents Samuel and Emmelie Baker Davis; her twin brother- Pete Davis, July 14, 2005.
She was a graduate of Atherton High School and a graduate of Deaconess Hospital of Nursing in Evansville, Indiana. Beginning her career as a nurse, she worked at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis as a R.N. and later worked at the V.A. Hospital, University Hospital, Marion Co. General Hospital and Winona Hospital.
In 1970, she met her husband, Joe Pieper and they were married May 20, 1972. Their son Joseph was born July 8, 1973. After husband died in 1974, she returned to Louisville to be near her parents. She loved to work with the elderly and work in nursing homes, retiring as a nurse in August, 2000.
Living through tragedy and cancer, her faith and positive attitude is what always got her through the rough times. A Catholic, she belonged to St. Pius and St. Gabriel Catholic Churches. She volunteered at church and also the American Cancer Society. Always wanting to help others, she was hesitant to let other help her. She felt she was so blessed in life and had so much to be thankful for.
Emmelie is survived by her son Joseph E. Pieper (Maria), Louisville, Kentucky; sister Sandra Mysen, Atlanta, Georgia; and many loving family members and friends who gave her support when she needed them.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 Friday, April 11 Newcomer Funeral Home 235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY. 40243. There will be visitation from 12 Noon to 1:00 pm.
