Emma Jean Walter Smith

Emma Jean Walter Smith, 82, of Louisville passed away on July 24, 2023.

She was born on September 14, 1940 in Louisville. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Grace Hope Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Central High School and attended Kentucky State University. Emma Jean was retired from the US Postal Service where she was a Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor.

She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Walter, Jr.; mother, Lucille Wilson; ex-husband, Frank Smith; and granddaughter, Eboney Johnson.

Emma Jean is survived by her daughters, Lisa Anderson and Cherie Smith; son, Troy Smith (Rebecca); goddaughter, Veronica Johnson; grandchildren, Raven Madry, Peyton McClain, Nolan McClain, Naysa Smith, Kaleb Newsom, and Simeon Newsom; and a host of great grandchildren, extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive). Her funeral service will follow at 1 PM at the funeral home with burial at Louisville Cemetery on Poplar Level Road.
