Elvis "David" Cunningham, 74, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.
David was born on November 16, 1948 in Danville, Kentucky to Elvis and Opal (Wilkerson) Cunningham. David grew up and was educated in Russell Springs, KY. and graduated from Russell County High School. He attended Eastern Kentucky University and Somerset Community College and Technology School where he focused on design drafting. Later, he attended J. B. Speed School of Engineering at University of Louisville.
David started his career at Campbellsville Industries located in Campbellsville, KY where he designed church steeples. David taught board drafting and AutoCad(Computer Aided Design) at Louisville Technical Institute for many years. David continued a successful career in design and engineering until transitioning into sales. He remained a productive salesman in commercial and industrial metal products until pursuing sales training and management positions where he excelled. David retired from Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation in 2016 after dedicating 20 years of loyal service.
When he was younger, David enjoyed fishing and golfing. He has always been a devoted UK Wildcats basketball fan. He cherished spending time with his family.
David became a member of Southeast Christian Church in 1999, and has been a long-time member of the Sojourners weekend class. He also regularly attended Saturday morning Men's Bible study, lead by Pastor Joe Donaldson. He had great faith in God and was motivated by a true servant's heart. He served as a regular volunteer in several areas at Southeast Christian before his retirement. After retirement, he dedicated more time to volunteer work at church. He also was a long-time volunteer at Ronald McDonald House.
David was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and those who knew him.
David is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Debbie Cunningham; son, Matthew Cunningham; daughter, Melissa Cunningham; brother, Gary (Rachel) Cunningham; brother, Roger Cunningham; niece, Kimberly (Mark) Weston, nephew, Christopher Cunningham; nephew, Patrick (Jennifer) Cunningham; and numerous extended family.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a Funeral Ceremony at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Chapel In The Woods, (1407 Moser Road ).
