Elvin Johnson

Elvin Wayne Johnson 87, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014. He was a member of VFW post 1693. Elvin also served in the United States Navy during World War II with a total of 8 years of service. Wayne then worked as a salesman for Bowman Dairy Company and retired with over 30 years, Wayne then worked for the New Albany Sewer Department and retired in the late 80's.

Elvin was born on January 4, 1927 in Floyds Knobs, Indiana to the late, Julius Z. and Bertha Elizabeth (Scott) Johnson. He is also preceded in death by his step son, Arthur "Rusty" Rogge; sister, Ruth Eicholz.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Bertha Emalee (Harp) Johnson; son, Ronald Johnson; step son, Mike Owen; sister, Linda Wenning; brother, Robert Johnson; grandchildren, Alex Johnson, Jeremy Owen, Tina Rogge, Melisa Wyatt; and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12 to 8 PM on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park at a later date.
