Elmer Charles Didat, 89, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022. Elmer was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served as a medic during the Korean War. He worked as a forging engineer for Tube Turns/Sypris Solutions for over 56 years. Elmer was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church where he was an active member of the Senior Citizens group.
He was born on April 28, 1933 in Floyd Knobs, Indiana to the late Alphonse and Leona Becht Didat. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Anthony and Jim Didat; and sisters, Pat Holsclaw and Mary Alice Cannon.
Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Marking Didat; son, Stephen L. Didat (ISP Retired) and his wife, Louisa; son, Kenneth Didat, DDS and his wife, Rebecca; grandchildren, Alex (Bruna), Kyle and Ryan Didat; brothers, Jerome (Charlotte) Didat and Regis (Suzie) Didat; sisters-in-law, Emma Didat and Susan Didat; brother-in-law, Dan Cannon; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Friday, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
