Ellen Coakley Schildt

January 3, 1955 — November 2, 2024

Louisville, KY

Ellen Coakley Schildt, a beloved fixture in the lives of those who knew her, passed away on November 2, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on January 3, 1955, Ellen's journey through life was marked by unwavering love for her family and a commitment to her career as a self-employed accountant.

A proud graduate of Ballard High School, Ellen pursued her passion for numbers with determination, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of Louisville. Balancing work and family, she attended night classes, exemplifying her dedication and tenacity. Her professional achievements were impressive, but it was her devotion to her loved ones that truly defined her life.

Ellen was a devoted mother to her daughter, Mary Carolyn Schildt, and took immense pride in her role as a mother, she cherishing every moment spent fostering memories and love. She was not just a mother, but also a dedicated sister to her siblings John Schildt (Mary), Sally Buckner (David), and Jim Schildt (Susan). Ellen's warmth and compassion enriched the lives of her family, her sweet temperament and good sense of humor creating an atmosphere of joy and laughter.

Her passions extended beyond the family; Ellen had a deep love for travel, especially when it involved sandy beaches and sunshine. She found great joy in watching the University of Louisville sports teams, cheering them on with the enthusiasm of a true fan. Ellen delighted in nature, particularly adoring cardinals, which seemed to reflect her vibrant and caring spirit. Her fur babies—her cats and her dog, Lexi—held a special place in her heart, reminding those around her of her nurturing nature and her ability to find happiness in every creature.

Ellen's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jane W. Schildt and Clement F. Schildt, yet her legacy remains strong. Ellen leaves behind a legacy rooted in love, laughter, and unyielding loyalty—a testament to the extraordinary person she was.

As we remember Ellen Coakley Schildt, let us hold dear the memories of her warmth and the laughter she brought into our lives. She taught us the importance of family, the joy in friendships, and the beauty of cherishing simple moments. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will undoubtedly guide us as we continue our journeys in life.

An Irish Blessing

May the road rise to meet you,May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God be with you and bless you:

May you see your children’s children.

May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings.

May you know nothing but happiness From this day forward.

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home,

And may the land of a friend always be near.

May green be the grass you walk on,

May blue be the skies above you,

May pure be the joys that surround you,

May true be the hearts that love you.
