Ellen Diane Barksdale, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away on November 19, 2024, in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. She was 61 years old.
Born on June 23, 1963, Diane was the daughter of Bud Barksdale and Pat (Kinman) Smith. She was preceded in death by stepfather, Larry Smith, her husband, Mike Brown, her sister, Cindy Barksdale and her niece, Annie Barksdale. Diane's warmth and compassion will be profoundly missed by those she left behind.
Surviving Diane are her devoted daughters, Bethany (Mike) Kelm and Marissa (Eric) Barksdale, as well as her treasured grandchildren, Cameron Kelm, Makayla Kelm, and Elijah Hill. She is also survived by her sister, Theresa (Rick) Gray, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members who will hold her memory close to their hearts.
Diane was a passionate and dedicated individual who deeply loved her family. As a hard worker, she took pride in caring for those she loved, and family always came first. In her retirement, she embraced her creative side, enjoying crafting, crocheting, and making beautiful wreaths. She found joy in spending time with her pup, Sassy, online shopping, playing online games, and indulging in her favorite afternoon soap operas. While Diane was a private person, those fortunate enough to know her best experienced her vibrant spirit and saw how she lit up in the presence of her grandchildren.
A visitation to celebrate Diane's life will be held on Tuesday, November 26th, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). A memorial service will follow at 6:00 PM at the same location.
