Ellen Alvenia Stewart

Ellen Alvenia Stewart, 76, of Clarksville, Indiana, formerly of Humble, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014. She attended Gospel Assembly Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Ellen enjoyed sewing, working crossword puzzles, singing, playing the piano, reading, and truly enjoyed the beauty of nature. Even in her last days, she made her family laugh with humor and wit.
She was born on February 9, 1938 in Tallahassee, Florida to the late Asa M. and Harriet A. (Dorsett) Stewart. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, J. Keith Barr; and brother, Jim Stewart.
Ellen is survived by her children, Lucia Schilb (John), Marcia L. Taylor, Gary G. Barr, Jr. (Carmen); siblings, Mac Stewart, Jesse Stewart (Marion), Nathan Stewart, Charles Stewart (Mary), Margaret Crowe; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen following Ellen's wishes and Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with her care.
Expressions of sympathy in Ellen's memory may be made to the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center (315 E. Broadway, 6th floor, Louisville, KY 40202).
