Ella Jo Van Meter, 80, of Louisville Kentucky, passed away due to natural causes on Saturday, May 29th, 2021. Ella (Mamaw) was born on November 08, 1940 to Dock and Louise Tackett in Robinson Creek, KY. She attended Virgie High School and soon after relocated to Chicago, IL and then to Louisville, KY. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, and homemaker for more than 60 years. In 1992, she met and fell in love with Edward Van Meter, Sr. of Shelby County Kentucky, they wed in 1993, and were inseparable from that moment on. After her marriage, she spent her time with her husband as an avid yard-saler and flea-marketer. Ella was a fiercely dedicated grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her family, and her pets. Ella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her children Johnny and James.
Ella is survived by her daughters, Betsy Satterly (Chris) and Donna Lynn Horton (Ronyal); her step-children, Karen Stivers and Edward Van Meter, Jr.; and her grandchildren, Lindsey Cummins and Alexander Gray; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be 11am to 1pm on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243, with a celebration of Mrs. Van Meter's life at 1pm there. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, Kentucky.
