Elizabeth Eleanor Tarter, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center at Norton Healthcare Pavilion
Eleanor was born in Lebanon, KY on October 20, 1930 to J.P. and Mary Florence Abell Luckett. She was Catholic by faith and had attended Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Eleanor retired from the old Louisville Bedding Co. after 30 plus years of employment.
She collected porcelain dolls, loved country music and especially loved traveling, including a trip to Ireland where she even kissed the Blarney Stone. Her favorite traveling companion was her sister-in-law, Shirley Luckett. Shirley's nephews, Joe, Mike and John Ferg often accompanied them.
Along with her parents Eleanor is preceded in death by her son Lawrence "Steve" Tarter and six siblings; James, Charles, Joe, Harold, Benita Luckett and Mary Florence Wise.
She is survived by her grandchildren Amy Eberle (Doug), Jennie Fornwalt (Nathan) and Michael Tarter and nine great-grandchildren Sam, Max and Claire Eberle, Anna, Noah, Will, Ben and Kate Fornwalt and Violet Tarter, siblings Joyce Ann Luckett who cared for her and Paul (Glenys) Luckett. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Patty Milliner, Brenda Smythe Snyder and her very special nephew/"second son" Tom Wise.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, November 28, 2022 from at Newcomer Funeral Home 235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243.
Mass will be held at 10:00 am at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 3509 Taylor Blvd, Louisville, KY 40215 with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park 4400 Bardstown Road.
