Elizabeth "Libby" Ann Goodpaster Reinstedler, 89Our beloved mother, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 surrounded by family at Nazareth Home in Louisville, Kentucky.
Libby was born in Winchester, Kentucky, on August 5, 1934, the daughter of Louise Reissinger Shaw and Clay Goodpaster.
She was a retired secretary for the Montgomery Construction Company and Trinity High School, a talented painter and seamstress. She loved gardening, bowling, bunco, making candy, talking to animals, befriending squirrels, and family gatherings. She was affectionately known as 'Mammoo' to her grandchildren who remember her for making forts, her legendary Thanksgiving dumplings, jello salad, the golden Easter egg hunts and they never knew when she would jump out on them during their many games of hide and seek.
Libby was a kind and gentle soul who loved her family unconditionally. She always saw the good in everyone, was generous with her time and loved to laugh. She was silly, caring, and a true lady. She taught her children to be strong and appreciative, making us write more thank you notes than we can count.
Libby is preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Reinstedler, her parents, former husband, Thomas Reinstedler and her sisters, Wanda Quinton, Beverly Williams, Patsy McCauley and Mary Rankin.
Libby leaves to cherish her rich memories, her children: Steve (Linda) and Danny (Donna) Reinstedler, Judy Wilson (Tom), Laurie Dexter (Dan), Nancy Marx (Doug) and Karen Thieneman (Leo); her grandchildren: Dustin (Alyssa), Bradley (Hayley), Kyle & Rachael (Carlie) Reinstedler, Julia Clark (Jordan), Michael & Neil (Ashley) Plamp, Will Marx, Claire, Caroline & Sophie Thieneman & Allie White (Hutton), 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the loving staff at the Barton House and Nazareth Home who cared for her like she was family in her final years.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. with a service at 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY, 40243. A family burial will be on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Calvary Cemetery.
