Elizabeth "Betty" (Koetter) Sprigler, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 12, 2025.
Her life was anchored in faith and her humble heart was filled with love for all of creation. She always lived with purpose: tending the soil with care, offering every harvest to her family and friends, all while creating a home that has been the heart of every gathering. Betty was devoted to her family, service for others, an avid gardener, homemaker, canning and preserving food for the long winters, making quilts for family and raffles. There was always time for family at the kitchen table for a game of cards or dominoes, or sitting at the smaller table with a puzzle.
Known for her prayerful nature and strong faith, Betty regularly attended Mass, whether it was at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church or Mount St. Francis. Daily rosaries and praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet was a staple in her life. With her Franciscan heart, she showed others how to live gently, serve faithfully and give joyfully.
Betty was born on August 13, 1932 in Starlight, Indiana to Julius and Elizabeth (Richart) Koetter. Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Pete" Sprigler; sisters, Mary Margaret Kruer, Ruth Book, Lucille Koerber, Dorothy Kruer, Janet Koetter; and brothers, Richard, John and Jim Koetter.
She is survived by her son, Robert "Bobby" Sprigler (Brenda); daughters, Doris Lindner, Tina Malloy (Ray), Lisa Kiesler (Michael); sisters, Patricia Williams (Ken), Carol Calandrino; sisters-in-law, Janice Koetter, Susie Koetter, Genny Sprigler and Carol Koetter; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson; and kindred family members, Emma Didat, Dawn Byrnes Habermel and Fr. Jose' Reyes OFM Conv.
