Elizabeth Higdon

My dear mom, Loretta Higdon, sadly passed away on January 21, 2023 at the age of 92. She was a wonderful mom who was always there when I needed her. She was an extremely strong woman with so many talents that I admired, and she inspired me to aim for the stars, even if I couldn't always reach them. She was such a sweet, kind and passionate person with a huge capacity for loving everyone and spreading happiness and laughter. She was a wonderful homemaker, cook, baker, etc., and loved being a mom and grandma more than anything in the world. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of Valley Station Baptist Church. She had a strong faith in God and love for fellowship within her church, especially the ladies that she taught within her Sunday School Class.

Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Higdon, Sr. of over 50 years; her mother, Lena Lindsey; her father, Charles Lindsey; her brother, Kenneth Lindsey; her sister, Juanita Mudd; her nephew, Stephen Mudd.

Loretta is survived and greatly missed by her son, William C. Higdon Jr. and his fiancé Lori Smith. She will be forever cherished and remembered by her two grandchildren, Tyler Higdon and Ian Higdon.
Her memory lives on with her nieces and nephews, Suzanne Mudd Severs, Michael Mudd and Deborah Mudd Lively Weisberger; as well as 8 great nieces and nephews and 6 great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30am on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Loretta's life will be there at 10:30am, followed by interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
