Elena Gray

Angels escorted Elena (Simpson) Gray, 85, of Sellersburg, Indiana to her heavenly resting place on June 29, 2013. Jesus promised us that He would prepare a place in Heaven for all who trust in Him and she has gone to receive that promise. John 14: 1-3

Elena was born in Louisville, KY to Thomas and Lilly Silvers on July 28, 1927. She was an active church member, Sunday school attendee, and loved supporting the midweek bible study group, preparing coffee for over 27 years. She loved sewing, arts and crafts, reading, board games, and of course shopping. They spent their winters in Florida for the last 33 years from November to April. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend to everyone she met.

Elena is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lilly; three sisters, Letha Silvers, Royola Sale, and Della Leasor; and three brothers, James, Virgil, and Bill Silvers.

Elena is survived by her husband, George Gray, whom she was married to for 64 wonderful years; son, George Lee Gray(Bonnie); daughter, Rhonda DiCicco (Tom); eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Deloris Cox, Shirley Kurk (Frank), Edith Huff (Bill); brother, Ronnie Silvers(Mary Lee).

Visitation will be on Monday, July 1, 2013 from 3 pm to 8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 am. Elena will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Louisville, KY.
