Edward Duane Thompson

Edward Duane "Ed" Thompson, age 80 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Edward Duane Thompson entered eternal life after a long illness on Thursday, February 16, 2023. He went as requested in his home with his wife at his bedside. He was born in Nashville TN in 1942 to Eddie and Mary Thompson. He was in transportation and teaching all of his adult life and loved teaching in the Tx school system. He was an easy going man who never met a stranger. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served in Marines and army. He loved reading, his family, and being outside and being silly with his grandchildren. He was a Mason and a member of the optimist club. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Christine Farris, Fay Scott, and Barbara Thompson; brother, Derek Frizzel; and best friend of 50 yrs, Marvin Lawson.

Edward is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sharon; daughters, Tracy Martinez, Teresa Johnson (Tommy); sons, Erin Thompson and Eddie Lee (Lisa); sister, Judy Meeker (Wayne); 9 grandchildren, Josh Thompson Jared Martinez, Mason Martinez, Cody Thompson, Jada Thompson, Jordan Thompson and Edward; and 4 great grandchildren, with one on the way; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4pm on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Ed's life will be there at 4pm.
