Edward Franklin Ashley, 78, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. He retired from the Local 795 Laborers Union and the Professional Arts Building. Ed became a father figure to many over the course of his life and was blessed with a large and loving family.
He was born on June 21, 1943, in Caneyville, Kentucky, to Robert and Ruby (Embry) Ashley. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brothers, Buddy and Paul Ashley.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Wretha (Geary) Ashley; daughters, Tammy Castleman (Danny), Tricia Coffey (Mark), and Denise Doss; grandchildren, Ashleigh (Chad), Danielle (Jacob), Luke (Taylor), Grace, Caleb, Josh, Nate, and Emma; great-granddaughters, Kinsleigh, Ava, Isla, and Ellie; sister, Peggy Morris; and brothers, Kendall and Pat Ashley.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 9:00 a.m. His funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Edwardsville Cemetery.
