Edna Frances Boedeker Bennett passed away peacefully on April 2, 2023 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born August 19, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio, Miami Valley Hospital to Frances Schantz Boedeker and Harold William Boedeker. Edna graduated from Sinclair Junior College, Dayton, Ohio, Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio and University of Dayton, Early Childhood Education degree. Edna was a proud member of Chi Omega Sorority, Kappa Delta Chapter.
She was the founder and director of the Pixie School, a private kindergarten, for 34 years (7 years in Dayton, Ohio and 27 years in Lebanon, Tennessee). Edna was born to be a kindergarten teacher. She felt everyday was special and was a positive influence on so many children over the years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, First Presbyterian Church, Lebanon, TN and Middletown United Methodist Church, Louisville, KY. Edna was a long time resident of The Forum in Louisville where she developed many cherished friendships over the years including her dear companion Warren Walker.
Edna is preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years Roger Edsel Bennett and her son Dr. Scott Bennett (Linda). She is survived by her daughter, Teri Bennett, grandson Brennan Bennett, granddaughters Maxine Bennett Young (Matthew), Corrine Bennett and great grandsons Killian Young and Lachlan Young.
Funeral ceremony will be at 11 A.M. on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive). Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until the service time on Monday. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, OH at 3:00 pm.
