Edmund R. "Junie" Knable, 78, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at his residence. Junie was an active member of St. Mary's of the Annunciation Catholic Church in New Albany. He served two terms on the Floyd County Council and 3 terms as a Floyd County Commissioner. Junie was a member of the K of C Cardinal Ritter Council #1221 and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a retired Instrument and Lab Technician at Public Service Indiana and was an avid farmer in Georgetown.
Junie was born on January 31, 1934 in New Albany to the late Edmund Fredrick and Bertha Catherine (Elmer) Knable. He was also preceded in death by his infant son, Matthew Knable; brothers, Richard, Alfred and Charles Knable and sister, Ruth Ann Knable.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann (Gettelfinger) Knable; children, Denise Konkle (Dennis) of Greenville, Diane Lilly (Jeff) of Georgetown, Donna Resch (Steve) of Floyds Knobs and Tammy Gibson (Grant) of Lanesville; sisters, Henrietta Huber, Winnona Lynch, and Mary Ann Woods; grandchildren, Nathan and Stacey Konkle, Jenna Loop (Chris), Chelsea Gardner (John), Megan and Jacob Resch, Amanda Gibson and Matt Gibson (Melissa).
Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 8 PM Tuesday, November 6, 2012 with a Prayer Service at 3 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Ln., New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Albany with burial to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
