Edith Scott

January 30, 1936 — October 31, 2024

Louisville, KY

Edith Scott, a beloved mother and devoted family member, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 88. Born on January 30, 1936, she was the cherished daughter of the late Roy and Ida (Goodman) Ashlock. Edith lived a life marked by kindness, thoughtfulness, and an unwavering work ethic.

Edith graduated from Shawnee High School in the class of 1954. Following her education, she dedicated many years to her career, first working in the service department at Cross Motors. She later transitioned to the payroll department at Frito Lay, where she was known for her diligence and commitment to her work.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Edith was an avid reader, often immersing herself in several books each week. Her passion for knowledge was matched only by her love of woman's sports, with a special affinity for the University of Louisville women's basketball team.

Edith is survived by her loving daughters, Brenda Warner and Beverly Spine (Terry). She also leaves behind her step-children, Vonda Motsinger and Gerald "Scotty" Scott, along with seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who will remember her with fondness. Edith is also survived by her cousin, Linda Coy (Kenny), who was like a sister to her for most of her life.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Oral T. Scott, whom she cherished, as well as her two brothers, Vernon Ashlock and Roy Ashlock, and her son-in-law, Tony Warner. Edith will be remembered for her compassionate spirit and her enduring legacy of love and dedication to her family.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions in Edith’s memory be made to U of L Brown Cancer Center (529 S Jackson St, Louisville, KY 40202) or The Louisville Free Public Library (301 York Street, Louisville, KY 40203).
