Edgar Burroughs
November 8, 1930 — February 17, 2014
Edgar Ross Burroughs went to his heavenly home on Feb.17th.
Edgar was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Burroughs Woods, son, George Phillip Burroughs, granddaughter, Amanda Michelle Woods, sister, Betty Wright, brothers Virgil Burroughs and Stanley Burroughs and his parents Claude and Aline Burroughs.
Edgar was an active member of Okolona Christian Church and former member of Highview Church of Christ where he served as an Elder at both churches. Edgar was retired from Bell South and a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. Edgar was a former member and Chaplin of the Camping Colonels. Edgar was a 1949 graduate of Fern Creek High School and was inducted into the Fern Creek Traditional High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.
Edgar leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 64 years, Georgetta Rodgers Burroughs, daughters Cindy Spink (Rudolph) and Kim McIntyre (Gary) and daughter-in-law, Carol Martin, a sister, Doris Parker, eight grandchildren, Jimmy Osbon, Wes Woods, Cheryl and Tommy Spink, Lori Johnson, Kimmy Parrish, Beth Downing and Shannon McIntyre. 9 great-grandchildren, Kaylynn, Jonathon, Olivia, Allie, Julia, Logan, Evan, Arianna and Joslen and a multitude of "adopted" grandchildren, family and friends.
Celebration of life 1 PM Saturday at Okolona Christian Church 10801 Faithful Way with entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation 1-8 PM Friday and after 11 AM Saturday, both at the church.
The family request in lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy be made to Okolona Christian Church.
