Eddie Dale Johnson

Eddie Dale Johnson, 79, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. He retired after over 30 years from ERL Commercial Marine, Inc. as a machinist. Eddie enjoyed spending time outdoors, shooting targets with his guns and tinkering out in the garage. He was known for his ability to have a conversation about anything and everything, and above all, Eddie loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as they were his world.

He was born on May 11, 1945 in Sulphur, Indiana to James and Ruby (Seaton) Johnson. Along with his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his brothers, Leo and Junior Johnson.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Barbara (Perkins) Johnson; sons, Craig Johnson (Kelly), Neal Johnson (Jennifer); grandchildren, Kristen Johnson, Breena Kopp, Isabelle Johnson, Alana Johnson, Alex Vitt; great-grandchildren, Layne, Brantan, Colsen; siblings, Virginia Hublar, Mary Summers (Pete), Linda Zahn (Kenny), Jerry Johnson (Ann); and several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his funeral service taking place at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Edwardsville Cemetery.
