Easter Mae (Goins) Barker, born on April 9, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family. She leaves behind a cherished legacy and a spirit that will be remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her.
For over thirty years, Easter dedicated her career to serving as a secretary for the state of Kentucky, where her meticulous nature and unwavering work ethic made a lasting impact. Her professional accomplishments, however, pale in comparison to her proudest achievement—watching her family grow. She was a devoted mother, loving sister, compassionate aunt, and loyal friend, always putting her loved ones first and nurturing those around her with kindness and warmth.
Easter graduated from Eastern High School, where her vibrant spirit began to shine. Her life was filled with faith and community; she found joy in attending Bible studies and church, which fulfilled her deep spiritual commitment. She truly cherished the time spent with her family, particularly those special moments with her brothers and sister. Whether it was enjoying a meal or sharing laughter, those gatherings held an irreplaceable place in her heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents Emily and William Goins; brothers, Oscar Goins, Henry Goins, Howard Goins, and Ralph Goins; and sister, Betty Stafford.
Easter is survived by, her sons, Lawrence (Debra) and Brian (Ashley Raymer-Brown) Barker; brothers, Doug Goins, Michael "Mike" Goins, and William "Bill" Goins; and sisters, Linda (Maynard) Mattingly, and Susan "Susie" Goins; and grandchildren, Lauren (Patrick) Smith, Erin (Schyler) Donhoff, Sarah (Joseph) Murrell and seven great-grandchildren.
To honor her memory, friends and family are invited to a Memorial Gathering on February 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY.
Easter Mae (Goins) Barker will be remembered for her loving spirit, her unwavering faith, and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her. She was a true beacon of love and loyalty, and her memory will forever be a guiding light in the hearts of her family and friends.
