Eartha B. Thomas, 78, of Louisville, KY, passed away on February 22, 2023, after a long, courageous battle with vascular dementia. He was born on June 7, 1944, to Robert Thomas and Willie Ruth Thomas. He grew up in Louisville, KY, alongside his sisters Pauline Zurich, Jeanette Gill, and adopted sister Patsy Mitchell.
Eartha was a faithful servant of Jehovah for 68 years, dedicating his life to Jehovah through baptism at only 11 years old. He worked hard in his service to Jehovah God, devoting much of his time and energy to friends in the various congregations he served as well as his family. He served as a congregation elder, doing his utmost to help others with a kind and humble spirit.
Eartha attended Central High School and played the baritone horn in the high school marching band. Eartha loved music and enjoyed listening to it throughout his life.
After Eartha graduated from Central High School, he worked at the company American Standard for many years. He married his devoted wife Colette and raised three children with her, making their home in New Jersey, Texas, and finally returning home to Louisville, Kentucky.
Eartha and Colette were married for 54 years filled with both good and bad times, but they always kept Jehovah first in their lives.
Eartha was predeceased by his mother Willie Ruth Thomas, father Robert Thomas, sister Pauline Zurich, sister Jeanette Gill and niece Shawn Newcomb. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Colette Thomas, Patsy Mitchell (adopted sister/cousin), daughter Erica Thomas, daughter Kimberly (Antonio) Solis, son Tyrone (Amber) Thomas, grandchildren Gavin, Maggie, and Anna, niece Alexis Newcomb, nephew Alexander Newcomb, as well as a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions-Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 3500 Peleske Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40216.
