Mr. E. L. "Jack" Bennett, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2010. He was born May 14, 1929 to Elvin R. and Stella Bennett of Saratoga, Indiana. He was a graduate of Ball State University, member of the Blue Key Men's Honor Society, First President Delta Kappa Chapter – Theta Chi Fraternity, an internal auditor with the PR Mallory Company of Indianapolis, Indiana and Chief General Accountant with Cuneo Press of Indiana, Kokomo, Indiana. Mr. Bennett was also former President of Tibbetts Mechanical Contractors of Anderson, Indiana; former President of Industrial Construction Operations with Natkin and Company of Denver, Colorado; Chairman of the Board of Directors with Anderson Federal Savings and Loan, Anderson, Indiana; President of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Indiana and served on the Mechanical Contractors of America Labor Estimating Committee; and also was a recipient of the Mechanical Contractors of Indiana 1987 Distinguished Service Award. He served as a Director of Purdue University Construction Engineering and Management School and was civically active including President of Board of Aviation Commissioners, Anderson Municipal Airport; Director of the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce; Director and Officer of the Anderson Country Club; an Officer of the Noon Kiwanis Club; and Director of the Anderson Fine Arts Center. He was involved and active as a member of theF&AM Masonic Lodge, Union City, Indiana; Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine of Indianapolis, Indiana. and a member of Southeast Christian Church.
Mr. Bennett was also a multi-engine instrument rated airline pilot with several thousand hours of flying time. He was an avid golfer. He loved fishing, traveling and oil painting.
He is survived by his wife, the former Brenda Lee; two sons, John and James Bennett; two daughters, Jane McDowell and Jennifer Dodge; and 8 grandchildren.
Funeral Ceremony 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Southeast Christian Church, 920 Blankenbaker Parkway with burial in Floydsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, February 15, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home 235 Juneau Drive and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at his church.
