Dwayne Henry Martin was born on November 28, 1962, to the late Ella Louise Cook and Thomas H. Trowell in Louisville, KY. He was educated in the Louisville Public School System where he attended Project Way Out High School. Dwayne was baptized at Greater First Peter Missionary Baptist Church December 2004. He later began to attend King Soloman Baptist Church where he was a faithful and diligent Christian. Dwayne was united in marriage on March 3, 2006, to Ella York Martin. Dwayne will forever be missed by his loving family and friends. He met no stranger, as everyone that came into contact with him loved him immediately. Dwayne had the spirit of a mechanic, but would always break whatever he was fixing before he fixed it. His sense of style, his courage to always fight through tough battles and his warm heartedness will never fade from our memories.
Dwayne is preceded in death by his parents, Ella Cook and Thomas Trowell; sister, Wilma Wood; brother, Thomas Martin; daughter, Shaquita Bowman and niece, Dionne Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Ella York; brothers, James Martin, Thomas Trowell, and Rayshon Trowell; sisters, Patricia Silver, Toni Smith, Kim Greenwell, Alisha O'Neal, Angela Nowlen, Patricia Sawyers (Gary), Karen Trowell (Delano Bailey); granddaughter, Penelope Bownman; grandson, D'ontae Ali Fitch and lifelong best friend, Belinda Knox.
Dwayne loved everyone and will truly be missed.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, with a celebration of Dwayne's life beginning at 1:00 pm.
Dwayne will be laid to rest at Green Meadows Cemetery, 3800 Shanks Lane, Louisville, Kentucky.
