Dr. Ronald Bryson

Dr. Ronald Bryson, passed away peacefully in his home on June 25, 2022. He was 88 years old.

Born to the late Ernest and Geneva Bryson on January 18, 1934, he graduated from Jeffersonville High School with the class of 1951. Following his graduation from Indiana University, he taught in public schools in southern Indiana for three years before beginning four years of service in the United States Coast Guard. He later completed a graduate education at the University of Kentucky. A lifelong lover of libraries, Ron served as the director of the library for the Raymond Walters Branch of the University of Cincinnati; later returning to the area to aid Indiana University Southeast in transferring their library from its previous location in Jeffersonville to the New Albany campus. He spent fourteen years as Chair of the Library Science program at Spalding College. During these years, he earned his pilot's license and enjoyed embarking on flights from Bowman Field. Later in life, he trained as a semi-truck driver and drove for the Schneider National Company for nine years; wherein he also served, for a period of time, as the director of the Campbellsville College Library.

He is survived by his daughter, Jill Triplett; his two grandchildren, Nicholas and Kristen Triplett; and his two younger brothers, McDowell and Leonard Bryson. He is predeceased by his ex-wife, Jean Bryson; and son, Steven Bryson.

Ron was laid to rest with his family at Eastern Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
