Dr. Robert "Bob" William Korn 89, of Louisvile Kentucky passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023.
He was born on May 25, 1933 in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He is survived by two sons, Nicholas (wife Nancy) and Matthew (wife Leisa), and two daughters, Jennifer and Phoebe. He also has seven grandchildren - Zoe, Maya, Allison, Emma, Brad, Josh, and Alex, a nephew and niece, Stephen and Diane, and his close friend Deanna.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Korn, and his mother, father and sister.
Bob earned his undergraduate degree at Marquette University and his PhD from Indiana university in Bloomington. He was a professor of Biology, with a specialty in the Botanical Sciences, at Bellarmine University for 35 years. A world traveler, he spent his sabbaticals teaching internationally in The Netherlands, Australia and Israel, as well as at various universities in the United States. His professional writings and studies were published in numerous scientific journals throughout his academic career. He was a true renaissance man. In addition to his academic accomplishments, he was also a writer, musician, artist and carpenter.
Bob will be remembered by friends and family for his intelligence, singular sense of humor, and inner strength. His delightfully bad jokes will be missed by everyone who knew him.
A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held from 12 to 2 PM on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Centro Atrium at Bellarmine University (2001 Newburg Road, Louisville, KY 40205).
