Dr. Jimf. Sharp

Jim F Sharp, loving husband and devoted father, passed away on November 8, of natural causes. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Janet Sharp and his three daughters, Melissa Sharp, Meghan Meeks and husband Ty, & Marianne Bernardo and husband Zachary, along with his sister Donna Aiken & brother Lloyd Sharp.

Jim was a family practice and ER physician.

He played college football for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide and was incredibly proud that his daughter Meghan followed in his footsteps and graduated from Alabama. His second favorite team was Ohio State where his other two daughters went to college.

After college, Jim went on to pursue his medical degree and graduated from the University of Tennessee Medical School. He started his medical career as a flight surgeon in the United States Navy and met Janet when he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. They fell in love, married in Portland, Oregon and built a wonderful life together.

After leaving the Navy, Jim moved his family to Louisville, KY in 1984 a city he embraced as his home. He loved living in Kentucky and being an avid member of the Douglass Hills neighborhood.

He opened his own Family Practice business in Charlestown, Indiana and was honored to be a doctor for that community.

Jim devoted his life to helping and caring for others. He loved his family and would do anything to make them smile. He will be missed terribly and remembered always.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 12th from 2-8 pm and the funeral is Wednesday, November 13th at 11 am; both held at the Newcomer Funeral Home located at 235 Juneau Drive.
Funeral services will be 11am Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive with burial to follow in Middletown Historic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2-8pm Tuesday and after 9:30 am Wednesday until time of service.
