Dr. Donald Forsee, 72, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church.
He was born on April 2, 1951 in Jeffersonville, Indiana to the late Norman E. Forsee, M.D. and Mary Frances (Wheatley) Forsee, R.N. Don is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Karen (Klapper) Forsee; daughter, Hillary Williams (Travis); grandchildren, Luke and Micah Williams; brother, Michael Forsee, J.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1969. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana and his D.D.S. from Indiana University, Indianapolis, Indiana, after which he served as a dentist in the Indiana prison system.
Don received a commission in the United States Public Health Service/Indian Health Service in 1981, serving on the Navajo Indian Reservations for 8 years. He returned to training in 1989, completing surgical training at the University of Maryland, followed by fellowship at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, earning his certification in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Anesthesia. Don served for 7 years in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at Hastings United States Public Health Service Indian Hospital, retiring in 2002. He then served the local Southern Indiana area in private practice until his retirement in 2022.
Don loved the outdoors: backpacking, camping, scuba diving, fishing, boating, yard work and running.
Don Forsee a child of God, husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, friend to many; perfect at none, yet truly blessed.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany), with a rosary service and prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs). His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church with burial and military honors to follow in the church cemetery.
