David T. Dodd D.M.D., 64, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on April 7, 2020. He now joins his son, Travis Dodd, and daughter, Paige Dodd, with our heavenly father. He was born on September 30, 1955, to the late Alonzo and Mary Dodd. David was also preceded in death by his brother, Darrell Dodd.
Dr. Dodd was an oral surgeon at the Owens Medical Center in Saint Matthews for over 30 years. His services not only covered the Greater Metro Louisville area, but also the rural communities across the state.
Originally from Bowling Green, KY, he attended Warren Central High School. After his graduation, he attended Western Kentucky University, where he was a proud member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He earned two bachelor's degrees in Biology and Chemistry. After college, he worked for the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab as a chemist for two years.
His interest in the dental field brought him to Louisville, KY where he attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He graduated at the top of his class with honors and chose to continue his education through the oral surgery program.
David was a strong University of Louisville and Trinity High School fan and supporter, attending hundreds of sporting events over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Wilson-Dodd; three sons, Britton Dodd (Lora), Colin Dodd (Maggie), and Griffen; his sister, Lisa McIntosh (Kerry); three grandchildren, Skylar, Lillian, and Alexander; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Services will be planned for a time when we can all be together to celebrate his life. Details will be announced at a later time.
