Douglas "Wayne" Martin

Douglas "Wayne" Martin, 73, of Greenville, Indiana, passed away peacefully following a brief and sudden illness, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

He was born on July 19, 1949 in Louisville, Kentucky to Agnes "Lucille" Meredith and Robert Martin. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 42 years, Lisa Martin; daughters, Laura Martin Osborn of Panama City, Florida, Elisa Diane Martin of Louisville; grandson, Tyler Martin of Greenville, Indiana; sister, Sharon Martin Hevia and brother-in-law, Manuel Hevia of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; brother, Doug Meredith and sister-in-law, Angela Meredith, of Greenville, Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Wayne was a member of Graceland Baptist Church. He loved his family, fishing, going on cruises and doing his home projects. Wayne and his wife traveled to many places in the United States and the Caribbean. He held several jobs in his life and retired as an auctioneer.

He loved meeting new people, having conversations with them and felt as though he "never met a stranger." Wayne was young at heart and had a great sense of humor. He will be forever missed by all that knew and loved him.

Wayne's wish was to be cremated and a reception of family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a celebration of Wayne's life taking place at 3:00 p.m.
