Dorothy Pettit

February 8, 1921 — May 20, 2013

PETTIT, DOROTHY JENKINS, 92, born to Robert and Hattie Jenkins of Kosciusko, Mississippi, February 8, 1921, went to be with her Lord on May 20, 2013 from Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, KY.

She was a fulfilled and beautiful woman whose deep and everlasting love for God, and her family was the strength behind her smile.

Dorothy loved bird watching and reading. She was a member and prayer leader of New Life Church for over 30 years and previous member of Walnut Street Baptist Church. Dorothy served as Secretary/Treasurer of Pettit Environmental, Inc. in Louisville, KY for over 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ralph W. Pettit Sr. in August of 1991.

Those left to cherish her memory, and life, are her four children, Sheila Elliott (Mike), Rebecca Stallings (Lowery Sr.), Ralph W. Pettit Jr. (Dana), Colleen Pugh (Tom); six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Her Celebration of Life ceremony will be on June 1, 2013 at New Life Church, 3402 Goose Creek Road, Louisville, KY. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with service at 2 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to New Life Church in Louisville or Jerusalem Baptist Church in Kosciusko, MS.
