Following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, Jean Herrick left her wheelchair behind to dance with the stars Wednesday, May 22. Her departure came while she rested in her daughter's arms and was surrounded by her family at the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville, KY. The ECH staff was Jean's angel troupe. Her husband was her hero.
Jean was a giant figure in the lives of those she touched. The sparkle in her sky blue eyes reflected Jesus, her laugh was contagious, and her selflessness kept her last in line and first in favor. She shined brightly as a wife, mother, grandmother, community and church servant, and mentor. She leaves a footprint that will never be filled in exactly the same way. She will be missed greatly by friends and family on earth, but her choreographers in heaven await.
Jean is survived by her dedicated husband of 57 years, Raymond L. Herrick, sons Mike (Sherrie) Herrick and Bruce Herrick, daughters Patti (Wilbur) Thornton and Linda (Jim) Hillenbrand, grandchildren Joshua Clinton and Christopher Clinton, and Mike and Kristin Herrick.
Visitation will be at Southeast Christian Church, 920 Blakenbaker Parkway on Saturday, May 25th from 10 – 12, with a memorial service at noon.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association, Hosparus, or Episcopal Church Home.
The family thanks the staff of Episcopal Church Home for their love, care, ministry and service.
