Dorothea "Doris" Quick, 77, passed away on May 22, 2014.
Doris was born in Neundorf, Germany, on Sept. 13, 1936. In her early 20s, she met and fell in love with her "American GI," Richard E. Quick, and the two were married on Oct. 9, 1959, in Kitzingen, Germany. After Richard's tour of duty was completed, they returned to the U.S. and on Aug. 13, 1963, she received her Certificate of Naturalization, thus becoming a citizen of the United States.
Later, they returned to Germany and were stationed in Bamberg. Returning to the U.S. once again, they spent several years at Ft. Knox and then finally settled in Louisville, where they lived for 39 years.
In March of 1967, they adopted their son, Richard E. Quick, at his birth. Later he blessed them with two beautiful grandsons, Richie and Brennon Quick, both of Louisville, KY.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Quick, who passed away Sept. 13, 2013. Also preceding her were her parents, Adam and Anna Lechner, and her siblings, Bettys, Fritz and George Lechner.
She is survived by her son, Richard E. Quick (Georgetown, KY) and daughter-in-law, Sandra Hill Quick (Georgetown, KY) and two grandsons, Richard A. Quick and Brennon L. Quick (Louisville, KY).
Visitation for Doris will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014, from 4pm-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway). Funeral service will be at 10:30am Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Louisville Chapel.
Burial will follow the funeral service, where Doris will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, 2501 North Dixie Highway, Radcliff, KY.
