Donnie Wayne Jewell

Donnie Wayne Jewell, 84, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. He retired after 22 years from ABF Freight in Louisville. Donnie had several interests that included horse racing, classic western movies, the Duke Blue Devils and playing slot machines. Whether out in the wild or domesticated, Donnie was also a huge animal lover.

He was born on August 18, 1939 in Hodgenville, Kentucky to Henry and Letha (Bishop) Jewell. In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jewell; and brothers, Frank, Huston and Lester Jewell.

Donnie is survived by his children, Tim Jewell, Lisa Mitchell (Max); grandchildren, Krista Mitchell, Katie Cottner (Andy), Robert Watts (Kristy), Jon Jewell, Kara Harris (Greg); fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a celebration of Donnie's life taking place at 2:00 p.m.
