Donna Charlene Gibbs

Donna Charlene Gibbs, 72, of New Albany, Indiana, left us peacefully on December 29th, 2020.

She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Darrell Gibbs; her daughters, Brooke Edwards (Randy), Brittany Bley, Dara Gibbs, and Lindsey Ofcacek (Tim); her sister, Robin Zipper (John); niece and nephew, Riley and Madisyn; and her grandchildren and granddogs who she loved beyond measure, Molly, Wyatt, Haley, Theo, Julian, Sophie, and Georgia Dean.

Donna was a graduate of New Albany High School. She was known to have many jobs because she was terrible at sitting still and loved a good side gig. She spent years working for Nu-Look Beauty Salon, Newcomer Funeral Home, Caesars Casino, and the Census Bureau, and none of us can forget The Fireworks Store and Huber's.

Donna was a friend and surrogate mother to many. She was always there to feed you, share a laugh, and give tough advice, whether you wanted it or not. Her daughters spoke to her daily, often just to share something she would make fun of us for and have her tell us how to fix it, usually ending with, "I will never get you all raised." She was probably right; we will miss her deeply.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). A Private Memorial Service will follow for family and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made in her honor to Hosparus Health of Louisville (3532 Ephraim McDowell Dr., Louisville, KY 40205) or The New Albany Floyd County Animal Shelter (215 W. Market St., New Albany, IN 47150).
