Donald William Jones, 77, of Greenville, IN passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014. Born and raised around Wales, IA, Don and his wife Jeannine would eventually settle in southern Indiana. He was a hog buyer for many years at Armour Foods, and finished his career with Excel Foods based out of Wichita, KS as the Vice President of Procurement. Don was also the past president of the Floyd County Farm Bureau Board, an active member of the Soil and Water Conservation District Board, and an advisor to the Southern Indiana Botanical Society. Don also valued 4-H and had served as a Floyd County 4-H leader for many years.
Don was born on March 24, 1936 to the late William and Irene (Swanson) Jones. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Spracklin and Betty Bahr.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeannine (Durick) Jones; children, Paul Jones (Jill), Bill Jones, Mary Jones Buczek (Jim); brother-in-laws, Rob Spracklin, Don Bahr; grandchildren, Garrett Jones, Gwyn Jones, Quinn and Merrill Buczek. His love will be missed, but his grandchildren will continue to shine his light.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, March 5 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his Funeral Service being held at 7 PM. Private burial will take place at Galena Cemetery.
